Projects and budgets
Project management tracks planned and actual costs, while budgeting relates income, expenditure and resources. A project's invoices alone do not explain purchasing commitments needed to complete the work. Actual expenditure and obligations awaiting invoices therefore describe different positions.
Sales and distribution
Pricing, campaigns, orders and distribution are within the product's scope. Relevant modules address vehicle capacity and delivery routes. When a delivery is split, outstanding order quantities, vehicle loads and customer invoicing need distinct records to explain the transaction.
Finance and controlled access
Financial operations can use multiple currencies and charts of accounts, with detailed user permissions controlling access. Viewing a record, changing it and completing a transaction with financial consequences are different responsibilities. Role design reflects the organisation's separation of duties.
Customisation and shared definitions
j-Platform's Java and HTML5 architecture supports company-specific development. If a new field means different things to different teams, reports become inconsistent even when the technical customisation works. The business meaning of project, department and cost-centre codes matters as much as form design.
